What is the BSA?
Broomgrove Schools Association is the parent fund-raising body for Broomgrove Junior School.The role of the BSA is to raise additional funds for both the infant and junior schools.
Every parent/carer with a child at Broomgrove is automatically a member of the BSA!
The BSA was set up to help build the swimming pool, it continues to maintain the pool and subsidise swimming lessons for all Broomgrove pupils. We make other annual donations to both schools to enable them to make our children’s time at Broomgrove even better than it already is.
Fundraising aside, what we really care about is creating truly fun events which both Broomgrovers and members of the wider Wivenhoe community can share and which our children will look back on with pride and fondness in future years.
What do we do?
Every year we organise three main fundraiser events - the Summer Fair (on the first Friday in July),Bonfire Night (on the Friday closest to November 5th), and the Easter Fun Day (like Easter, this is a moveable feast!). We also fundraise via clothes/textiles collections and, every other year, give the children the chance to design their own professionally printed Christmas cards.
How can you help us?
In the past other social events (quiz nights, raffles etc.) have been held. We would love to make Walk to School Week a bigger event and to explore more ideas for events and activities - to do this, we need your help. We want to make 2018 even bigger and better so the more ideas and help we have then the better it can be and more funds can be raised.
If you have an idea, we're here to offer a platform to see it to fruition: for example, the Infant School Disco was started a couple of years ago by parents who wanted to see it happen, and some other parents recently had the idea of holding a movie night for each school, both the disco and movie nights were a success and we are planning many more events like this.
IDEAS: Please do run your ideas by us - we can offer you organisational support and a float to get things going.
EVENTS: We would be really grateful for your help at our events even if it’s just half an hour to help set up/run a stall/pack away. Last year (2017) we had a LOT of volunteers for Bonfire Night and it made a huge difference to the way the event turned out and how enjoyable it was for everyone involved, it was also one of our most profitable fireworks night to date!
Who are we?
We are all Broomgrove parents/carers with children in either the Infants or the Juniors, or both.
Those of us with active roles in 2018/19 are listed below. We meet with the School Headteachers for a formal meeting once a term, and then – because everyone has different schedules and busy lives we use flexibility to meet in little task groups and communicate by email.
