Mrs Amanda Mouat – Learning Mentor
As Learning Mentor for Broomgrove Junior School I would like to introduce myself and provide a definition of my role within the school.
I have worked within education for a number of years and have a Diploma in Social Work. The majority of my experiences working within education have been on a 1:1 level, working with children with various identified needs. My role as a Learning Mentor is to help children to identify and understand their anxieties and work through ways to alleviate the impact these issues have on their learning experience. By providing the space and time to discuss their concerns the children will build the confidence to recognise positive ways in which they can address any problems they may encounter. Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) is an area which the school take very seriously and are dedicated in providing the opportunity for all children to access education in a supportive learning environment which will enable them to reach their full potential while enjoying the school experience.
I will be working alongside the SENCO, Vikki Bonner, and would welcome parents to contact me should they have concerns relating to any difficulties their child may be experiencing, both inside and outside the school environment, which could make learning and their time at school challenging.
I look forward to meeting you and working together to ensure the children at Broomgrove Junior School enjoy a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
