I would like to welcome Year 2 parents and children to our Broomgrove Junior School transition page. We work closely with staff at the Infant School to ensure a smooth and happy transition, by arranging transition activities and sharing information about the children so we can fully prepare for their arrival. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will not have the usual timetable of visits to the classroom in the Summer term. We have adapted this to include virtual tours, virtual parent meetings and virtual sessions between the children and their future Year 3 class teachers. In addition to this, the children will be visiting the Junior playground during the summer term to start to familiarise themselves with our setting. As you will see from their comments, the children who joined us in September 2020 were very positive about the move to the Juniors, despite Covid-19 restrictions.
I look forward to meeting with you all, parents and children, at some point in the Summer Term.
Best Wishes,
Mrs Munson
Transition Lead and Year 3 Class Teacher
At Broomgrove Junior School there is a lot going on! In the Autumn Term, we will be learning all about The Stone Age. We will journey back in time to experience life as a Stone Age person, have a go at cave painting, shelter building and even learn about hunting with spears! We will be listening to lots of wonderful stories and through exciting, supported lessons, you will write your own incredible stories. Also, we are very lucky to have Mrs Minshull delivering our music lessons. This is brilliant because not only is Mrs Minshull a fantastic music specialist teacher, but also the children know her from the infants; a familiar face can make all the difference.
We are blessed with large open grounds with lots of beautiful trees and fascinating wildlife and we use the outdoor space for learning as much as possible. At some point in the year, we will be having forest school sessions with our very own Forest School Leader, Mrs Hubert. The children absolutely love forest schools and learn lots of practical skills as well as developing social skills and resilience.
'I love the trim trail and all the love and support from Mrs Allen (class LSA)' Sophia
'I have enjoyed playing TTRockstars and having a bigger desk and chair in the classroom' Harry
'Everyone is really friendly and happy and I love writing stories in English'
